"el invierno de la vida"

---
when winter's breadth came close to it's end,
i met a man of no vexation.
he leaned in close and whispered short
the most unexpected wordly clarification:

"this too shall pass,
the sun fall and fade
no dawn to emerge
out of the sea's last wave

this too shall pass-
the moon rise and float
the script turn dark
upon the last letter wrote

the reverence,
the dread,
your terror unrash -
my dear, in time
you too shall pass"

he pulled away
in wake of me
and then passed right on,
eternally.

Forever Sunday

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

we party in the dark,
so nobody can see us -
we party throughout the night,
in countless mausoleums

we raise the ground
and and haunt the halls
as whispers and secrets, and memories aflame
we fade in pictures on the wall,
and remember not our names

.

the little girls run barefoot through
and count up all our ages,
they giggle and dance
aglow in the sun
and know not of what the church clock wages

the perils of nostalgia

There was a fresh sheet of paper 'round
And with the need to be written down,
My life did flow out through my limb
A story etched out in pencil, thin.

The led danced all across in scribe
As my history burst out, ever still alive
Of Loves and Ghosts my words did sing
And let out at once all I had stole within .

The night did fade and light cue in
And as axis worked, the darkness again
Days did twist and burn away
And not again saw I the light of day,

Until my words did break in pause-
All memories of my future came up raw,
For had not been written down in mind,
The actions of a distant time

I then lift'd my arm from its friendly rest
To find the rest of body no longer able
To move or swing, dance or shake;
My life had passed along in nostalgia's wake!

As my words did come to end
So did I, with a written beginning turned end.
